Authorities: Queens Man Busted Riding Stolen Dirt Bike Near UBS Arena in Elmont

The Fifth Squad reports on the arrest of a Queens man for the Criminal Possession of Stolen Property that occurred on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at 6:40 PM in Elmont.
 
According to Detectives, Officers were responding for a call of multiple dirt bikes and ATVs riding illegally near the UBS Arena located at 2400 Hempstead Turnpike when Officers observed one of the subjects with a 2017 Yamaha dirt bike at the Exxon Gas Station located at 535 Hempstead Turnpike. 
 
When Officers approached the subject, he fled the scene on foot and ran northbound onto Louis Avenue. 
 
Defendant Jaheim Smith, 20, of 18530 140th Avenue, Spring Field Gardens was soon after placed under arrest without further incident. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the dirt bike was reported stolen. 
 
Defendant Jaheim Smith is charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree, Reckless Driving and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Infractions. He will be arraigned on Monday, September 4, 2023 at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
