Bomb Threat Called In To Port Jefferson Harbor on Sunday Afternoon
Suffolk County Police said that at about 1:40 pm on Sunday, a bomb threat was called in to Port Jefferson Village. Officials called police to report the threat pertaining to the harbor.
“SCPD, United States Coast Guard, Town of Brookhaven, Village of Port Jefferson, and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation responded and no bombs were found,” according to a statement sent to longisland.com about the threat.
Officials from the Bridgeport-Port Jefferson ferry were notified and suspended operations until the response was complete. Witnesses on the water in Port Jefferson harbor reported seeing a helicopter patrolling the area around that time as well.
