NCPD: Heroin-Covered Long Beach Man & Woman Busted During Traffic Stop with Plethora of Illegal Drugs

The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of a Long Beach man and woman on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 10:35 p.m. in North Long Beach.
 
According to Detectives, Bureau of Special Operations (BSO) Officers observed a red Honda traveling northbound on Austin Boulevard with a rear license plate improperly affixed. A Vehicle and Traffic Law stop was conducted in front of 4116 Austin Boulevard, Island Park at which time Police observed defendant Joanne Mcclenic, 53, of 20 East Pine Street in the driver’s seat and defendant Markee Reeder, 47, of 71 East Fulton Street in the front passenger’s seat. 
 
Defendant Reeder did attempt to destroy narcotics he had on his person. When BSO officers placed the defendant into custody, he became combative, continuously pulling his arms away to destroy evidence and resisted arrest. Officers placed defendant Reeder into Police custody and recovered 12.39 grams of a white rocky substance believed to be crack cocaine, 18.9 grams of a tan powdery substance believed to be heroin, .32 grams of a brown earthy substance believed to be psilocybin mushrooms, 4 alprazolam pills, 1 blue ecstasy, 1 yellow pill believed to be zolpidem tartrate that was on his person. The defendant also had a tan powdery substance believed to be heroin all over his hooded sweatshirt. Defendant Reeder was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and evaluation. Defendant Mcclenic was placed under arrest without incident.
 
Defendant Mcclenic is being charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree. Defendant Reeder is being charged with seven (7) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree, three counts (3) of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Resisting Arrest. Defendant McClenic was released on a desk appearance ticket returnable on October 1, 2024 and defendant Reeder will be arraigned on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
