HEMPSTEAD, NY - September 5, 2013 - Fidelis Care and the Hispanic Counseling Center invite the public to join them for a back-to-school community celebration featuring free health and dental screenings, raffles, giveaways, face painting, refreshments and more. Radio station WBLS will broadcast live from the event.
The event will be held Saturday, September 14 from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Hispanic Counseling Center, 344 Fulton Avenue in Hempstead. Medical professionals will offer free glucose and blood pressure screenings, eye exams, body mass index evaluations, and dental counseling. No appointment or registration is necessary.
The start of the school year is an important time for parents to make sure their child has health insurance. Almost all children under age 19 are eligible for coverage through the New York State-sponsored program Child Health Plus. Fidelis Care representatives will be available to answer questions about health insurance, and to help eligible residents apply for enrollment. Current Fidelis Care members may also receive assistance completing their annual recertification at this event.
