Nassau county is taking donations of school supplies to help students in need.
September 4, 2013 - Although the school year has begun in many school districts, Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano is partnering with Island Harvest in collecting school supplies for hundreds of students still in need throughout Nassau County. Beginning today, County buildings, including those in Mineola, Hempstead, and Westbury, will have receptacles for donations of backpacks and all the tools a student requires to prepare for the school year. The donations will be given to school children and college students who may be struggling with the cost of either the supplies or tuition.
Supplies needed include: composition notebooks, backpacks, lunchboxes, loose leaf paper, tab inserts, binders, pocket folders, pens, pencils, markers, highlighters, glue sticks, crayons, scissors, rulers and calculators.
