Written by Lon Cohen  |  05. September 2019

On Sunday, August 25th, the Town of Babylon and the West Babylon Fire Department honored Tine Nee’s 27 years of service by renaming 11th Street in West Babylon - located between 13th and 14th Avenues - as “Paramedic Tina Nee Memorial Way" in her memory.

Nee, a one-time captain of the rescue team and a paramedic for the West Babylon Fire Department, broke barriers by becoming the first female officer in the department.

She was a 40-year resident of West Bablyon.

When she died in 2017, Nee was the Senior EMT for the West Babylon Fire District. She also served as a Suffolk County EMS instructor.

At the ceremony, Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer thanked her husband Kenneth and children Sharon Drake, Robert and Kevin for the years of service their mother provided the community. Nee is also survived by a son, Christopher.
