Suffolk County SPCA Detectives have arrested a Patchogue man and charged him with animal cruelty.
Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk County SPCA, said that on September 4, 2021 SPCA Detectives charged Reed Lewis, 29, with failing to provide necessary sustenance, including food & veterinary care, to his 3-year-old Pitbull, “Princess.” When investigators examined the dog, they found her to be severely underweight with her ribs and bones clearly visible and with pus coming from her eyes.
“Princess” was seized and taken to the Brookhaven Animal Shelter.
Chief Gross said that Lewis is scheduled to appear in First District Court, Central Islip, NY on September 28, 2021.
Chief Gross said that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Suffolk County. If you witness any incident of animal cruelty or neglect in Suffolk County, please contact the Suffolk County SPCA.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
