The new school year is here, but that doesn’t mean summer fun needs to end. The Salvation Army Hempstead Corps is making sure that more than 200 local children return to school with high quality backpacks and school supplies. Along with the back-to-school donation, the Hempstead Corps is hosting a carnival with games, a giant inflatable obstacle course, a bouncy house, carnival foods, and more.

This program enables children to get the supplies they need, as well as the confidence to focus on learning. The donation and carnival event is an extension of the work the nonprofit does to support kids’ literacy and development throughout the school year. Students, parents, and Salvation Army representatives will be available for interviews.

WHERE: The Salvation Army Hempstead Corps Community Center, 65 Atlantic Ave, Hempstead, NY

WHEN: Saturday, September 7 from 1:00 to 3:30pm
