Ruby Crab of Bethpage: New Seafood Eatery Wowing Locals with Remarkable Culinary Experiences

Written by Chris Boyle  |  06. September 2024

Ruby Crab is a recent addition to Bethpage's restaurant scene, having opened their doors for business just six months ago. However, in that brief time, the establishment is already making waves amongst restaurant goers, developing a stellar reputation for delightful experiences and delicious food.

According to owner Jackie Li, Ruby Crab – located at 4037b Hempstead Turnpike – specializes in seafood, but with numerous twists that make it stand out amongst Long Island's crowded restaurant industry.

Part of Ruby Crab’s recipe for success comes from its owner; Jackie has enjoyed many years in the restaurant field, honing her craft and developing her skills working at numerous establishments, and her love of the business finally inspired her to strike out on her own and open her very own establishment.

“I've been working in restaurants for nearly 20 years, and it's something that I've really enjoyed doing a lot,” she said. “I've always had a passion for cooking, and working in the industry over the years has really given me a chance to express myself while making delicious food that has been enjoyed by countless people. It's something that I take a lot of pride in.”

In fact, Ruby Crab isn’t the only restaurant owned by Jackie; several months after opening the eatery, she then opened a second one – Lau Vietnamese Pho in St. James – to an equal level of success.

Part of the allure of Ruby Crab’s menu is its diversity; it features a tasty array of appetizers and a number of tempting meat dishes, including USDA Prime chargrilled marinated rib eye, T-bone steak, grilled chicken, and BBQ spare ribs. However, the main draw is the seafood, which runs the gamut from blue point oysters, little neck clams, and cocktail shrimp to Chilean sea bass, seafood risotto, grilled catfish, and Atlantic salmon. No matter what your tastes, you're sure to find something you'll love at Ruby Crab.

Ruby Crab dining room can accommodate up to 65 customers at any given time, with an experienced crew of servers and wait staff ready to accommodate their every need, allowing guests to simply sit back and relax and enjoy a night out after a hard week of work.

One of the main things that sets Ruby Crab apart from the competition, Jackie said, is simply the care that goes into preparing the dishes, using all quality, locally-sourced ingredients.

“We really only use the highest-quality foods for our menu, and I've known my head chef for over 10 years, so we really have a strong understanding of what to expect from each other, and I know that everything that is coming out of my kitchen has been expertly prepared each and every time,” Jackie said.

Since opening up Ruby Crab a mere half-year ago, Jackie said that response to her new endeavor has been overwhelmingly positive, with many customers becoming regulars there due to their affinity for the mouth-watering and expertly-crafted cuisine they indulge in each and every time.

“People have really been enjoying the food, and I've gotten very friendly with a lot of the regular customers, which is a great feeling,” Jackie said. “At this point I'm not just cooking anymore, I'm actually running every aspect of the restaurant...I'm running the business, I'm designing the menu, and I'm dealing with customers, so I'm keeping very busy, but it's been a wonderful experience so far and I'm looking forward to seeing what the future will bring.”
