A Short History of Conspiracy Theories in America - From the Salem Witch Trials to who murdered JFK to current political notions of cabals that are advancing nefarious causes, Americans have engaged in conspiratorial thinking. Long Island Indigenous Perspectives Paddle Canoe Tour - Conscience Point is known to be the original meeting place of the Shinnecock and English settlers of Southampton in June of 1640. Paddling tour led by Chenae Bullock of Moskehtu Consulting who will take you on a journey through history to cover oral Indigenous history, Indigenous plant identification, Indigenous lifeways, and Indigenous songs. Participants can bring their own canoe or kayak or you can rent a kayak provided by East End Explorer.. When: Sunday, September 11, 2022. Undercover: Stories of Rum Running in Southold - The exhibit reveals some unexpected sites around town that were linked to the history of rum running; and it relays actual historical accounts from residents who recalled the era. When: Sunday September 11, 2022,

14th Annual Civil War Weekend at the Grange - Step into the 1860’s and witness battles between the Blue & the Gray, visit their camps, listen to period music, and immerse yourself in the life of this most extraordinary time in America’s history. 2022 Tri-Spy Walking Tour - Hike your way through history. Relive history in an ingenious outdoor adventure which takes nature enthusiasts, athletes, and history lovers to a whole new level. Tri-Spy is a fun way for people to be active and to learn about the Culper Spy Ring and our Revolutionary War past. Tour-goers follow in the actual footsteps of the Culper Spy Ring, and, along the way, historical places of interest are pointed out and discussed. When: Saturday, September 17, 2022. Revolutionary Revel - Step into the past at the eighth annual Revolutionary Revel, a family-friendly afternoon for history lovers as Raynham Hall, home of the Revolutionary War spy Robert Townsend. Filled with costumed adult and child re-enactors who bring the 18th century to life with period music including African American spirituals and Native American drumming, cooking demonstrations, and musket firings. The True Story of the Culper Spy Ring - Learn the true story of the Culper Spy Ring from former Newsday reporter Bill Bleyer, author of George Washington's Long Island Spy Ring: A History and Tour Guide. History buffs have long been fascinated by the operation of the Long Island-based Culper Spy Ring during the American Revolution, especially since the airing of the AMC series Turn. This slide presentation and lecture will separate facts from fiction and detail the ingenious operation of the intelligence network that helped the Patriots win the war.
