A trio of men attempted to pass off fraudulent credit cards at a Westbury Walmart on Old Country Road, Friday afternoon at 3:26 p.m. The three were  apprehended for their credit card scheme by Nassau County loss prevention officers.

The loss prevention officers approached the men after they tried purchasing several items and their cards didn’t work. After the fourth was declined at the register, the loss prevention officer asked one of the suspects if he could look at the card and identification. When the officer noticed defects in the card, the suspects, John Eustache, 25, Kenneth Bartholomew, 21, and Sacha Bryant, 35, fled from the store. They attempted to run off in a 2008 Lexus but Nassau County police officers stopped the alleged credit card crooks before they could.

“After attempting to make several purchases in which four credit cards were declined, the loss prevention officer asked to see identification and the credit card,” said Nassau County police Officer Mary Verna in an interview with CBS. “One of the defendants handed over a driver’s license and a credit card with many alterations and defects.”

Officer Verna said the three men had 26 cards in their possession. Bartholomew and Bryant are charged with ten counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd Degree, and Eustache is charged with eight counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd Degree. All three defendants are set to be arraigned Saturday at the First District Court in Hempstead.
