AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. SCPD have arrested Dayven Alonso of Bellport, 33, for DWI with two children in his car on Tuesday, September 5.

Bellport, NY - September 7, 2017 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a man for driving while intoxicated with two children in his car in Bellport on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at approximately 7:35 p.m.
 
Dayven Alonso was driving a 2008 Jeep on Bell Street, near Bellport Lane, when he was observed by Fifth Precinct Patrol Officer Bryan Lawrence driving erratically at approximately 7:35 p.m. Officer Lawrence initiated a traffic stop and conducted sobriety tests, which Alonso failed. Alonso’s two children, ages three and five years old, were in the car.
 
Alonso, 33, of Bellport, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15 Years Old or Younger (Leandra’s Law), and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The children were released to family members.
 
Alonso was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on September 6.
