NCPD: Uniondale Man Arrested in Connection with Deadly Valley Stream Shooting Spree

The Nassau County Police Department Homicide Squad reports that an arrest has been made in connection with a Homicide that occurred on Monday, August 21, 2023 at 8:23 p.m. in Valley Stream.
 
According to Detectives, Fifth Precinct Officers responded for a disturbance that occurred at a vacant store front, located at 85 Ocean Avenue. Upon arrival, Police observed a 12-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his shoulder, a 17-year-old female with a laceration to her hand, and DeAndre Carter of Brooklyn, 20, with a gunshot wound to his chest. 
 
All three victims were transported to a local area hospital for treatment. DeAndre Carter was pronounced deceased at 9:05 p.m. by hospital staff. A short while later, two 17-year-old male victims, arrived at local hospitals seeking treatment for gunshot wounds to their legs.
 
Further investigation revealed that then-unknown subjects fired multiple rounds while on 131st Ave and then fled on foot in an unknown direction.
 
Homicide Squad Detectives report the arrest of Kyle Matthews, 21, of 922 Smith Street, Uniondale. He is charged with Murder 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
 
The investigation is ongoing.
