AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Man Arrested for DWI with 14-Year-Old Daughter in Vehicle

Suffolk County Police have arrested a New York City man for driving while intoxicated with his 14-year-old daughter in the vehicle.

Ronkonkoma, NY - September 7, 2015 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a New York City man for driving while intoxicated with his 14-year-old daughter in the vehicle.

Suffolk County Highway Patrol Officer Robert Rilling observed a 2015 Honda CRV traveling westbound on the Long Island Expressway near Exit 60 in Ronkonkoma with no tail lights and exceeding the speed limit. After stopping the vehicle, the officer discovered that the driver, Ramon Garcia, was intoxicated and the vehicle was occupied by members of Garcia’s family, including his 14-year-old daughter.

Garcia, 57, of Jackson Heights, was arrested and Fourth Squad detectives charged him with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15 Years Old or Younger (Leandra’s Law), Driving While Intoxicated and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Garcia’s daughter was released to other family members.

Garcia is being held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned this morning at First District Court in Central Islip.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
