MTA Is Your Best Bet to Reach the Fall Races at Belmont Park

Elmont, NY - September 9, 2015 - With American Pharoah’s historic Triple Crown victory a recent memory, this is a great time to catch the train or the bus to Belmont Park for this fall’s horse racing season. The Long Island Rail Road is adding two round trips to Belmont Park on all racing days, and the MTA is extending two Queens bus routes to Belmont Park. Both bus routes connect to the New York City Subway at stations in Jamaica.

Long Island Rail Road Service to Belmont Park

The LIRR is operating two trains to the newly improved Belmont Park Station, which now features two high-level platforms for easy boarding. The new platforms were completed this June, just in time for the Belmont Stakes.

On weekdays, the first train will depart from Penn Station at 10:58 a.m. and arrive at Belmont Park at 11:33 a.m. Or customers can catch the 11:38 a.m. Huntington-bound train and change at Jamaica for the 12:20 p.m. train that arrives at Belmont at 12:33 p.m. Racing fans from Brooklyn catch trains departing Atlantic Terminal at 10:35 a.m. or 11:35 a.m. and change at Jamaica for the train to Belmont.

On weekends, the first train will depart from Penn Station at 11:04 a.m. and arrive at Belmont Park at 11:43 a.m. Or customers can catch the 11:55 a.m. Babylon-bound train and change at Jamaica for the 12:30 p.m. train that arrives at Belmont at 12:43 p.m. Racing fans from Brooklyn catch trains departing Atlantic Terminal at 10:45 a.m. or 11:45 a.m. and change at Jamaica for the train to Belmont.

Leaving the park, trains depart Belmont Station at 3:42 p.m. on weekdays or 4:41 p.m. on weekends. A second train departs the park at approximately 6:25 p.m. on weekdays or 6:08 p.m. on weekends; the departure of this train will be subject to being adjusted and will be timed to leave 30 minutes after the last race. The LIRR advises customers to be alert to late races or special events.

Bus Routes Extended; Fans Can Change from the Subway

The MTA’s Q2 and Q110 bus routes will be extended to Belmont Park on racing days. Going to the park, customers exit the bus at the escalator leading to the LIRR overpass. Leaving the park, the buses pull up to the designated Q2 and Q110 bus stops adjacent to the LIRR station.

The Q2 connects to the F subway line at 169th Street and Hillside Avenue and at 179th Street and Hillside Avenue. The Q110 bus connects to the E, J, Z subway lines at Jamaica Center-Parsons-Archer.
