AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. First Squad detectives report the details of two arrests for criminal possession of a weapon that occurred in Rockville Centre on Wednesday, 09/07/16 at 10:15 P.M.

Rockville Centre, NY - September 8, 2016 - First Squad detectives report the details of two arrests for criminal possession of a weapon that occurred in Rockville Centre on Wednesday, 09/07/16 at 10:15 P.M.

According to detectives, upon stopping a vehicle for a VTL violation on Merrick Rd./Ocean Ave., Rockville Centre police officers found the driver, Kahmani Headley, 16, of Valley Stream, and passenger, Dandre Dogostiano, 17, of Rockville Centre, to be in possession of a loaded handgun.  The defendants were placed under arrest at the scene.

Both defendants are each being charged with Criminal Possession of Weapon 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of Weapon 3rd Degree.  Headley is additionally being charged with VTL violations - Unlicensed Operator and Fail to Obey Traffic Device.  Both defendants were arraigned on Thursday, 09/08/16 in First District Court, Hempstead.
