Multiple People Fall Ill at Kumo Restaurant in Stony Brook

Update: Kumo Attorney: No Refrigeration Problems, No Arrests - Suffolk County Issues 15 Violations

 

Multiple calls were made to 911 on Saturday evening at around 4pm reporting that people were falling ill simultaneously at Kumo Japanese Steakhouse in Stony Brook.

 

Suffolk County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services confirmed that 13 patients were transported to three area hospitals by EMS from 2548 Nesconset Highway in Stony Brook with reports only saying that people were getting sick. An unknown number of additional patients were self-transported.

 

Witnesses reported that people were vomiting on scene.

 

The Suffolk County Health Department arrived soon after and they are conducting an investigation into the matter. No cause for the illness has been confirmed by officials as of yet.

 

Stony Brook Fire Department was on the scene first with up to 12 other departments responding to give aid.
