Bellmore Flea Market Vendor Nabbed Selling Fake Police Badges, Cops Say
Bellmore, NY - September 11, 2017 - The First Squad reports the arrest of an East Meadow man for Criminal Sale of a Police Uniform that occurred Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 2:43 pm in Bellmore.
According to detectives, First Precinct patrol officers responded to a complaint for a man selling police shields at the Bellmore Flea Market located at 2700 Pettit Avenue. Responding officers located a table displaying numerous replica police shields from various police agencies. Also on display were police patches, a jacket, and various Fire Department Medical Service uniforms were also showcased.
A subsequent investigation revealed Howard Kaminowitz, 67, was attempting to sell the items on display and sold an undisclosed amount of police badges. He was arrested without incident.
Defendant Kaminowitz is charged with Criminal Sale of a Police Uniform. He was issued an appearance ticket for September 25, 2017.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
