NCPD: Homeless Man Arrested in Connection with String of Nassau County Auto Thefts
Mineola, NY - Sept. 14, 2018 - The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a homeless man responsible for Grand Larceny of an auto that occurred in Mineola on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 12:10 am in Mineola.
According to Auto Crime detectives, an extensive investigation was being conducted regarding the thefts of autos that occurred in Mineola, Garden City Park and New Hyde Park. Detectives determined that the defendant Collin Bunbury, 32, no known address was responsible for removing a 2013 Audi parked in the lot of Fury New York Auto sales located at 15 Windsor Court. On Wednesday, September 13, 2018 at 4:05 pm detectives located the defendant at the Creedmoor Hospital grounds located at 80 – 45 Winchester Boulevard where he was placed into police custody without incident. There were no injuries reported.
Further investigation revealed that the defendant Collin Bunbury was responsible for the following larcenies:
- 09/06/18 – 2008 Toyota removed from County Courthouse Road, Garden City Park
- 02/11/17 – 2009 Porsche removed from Windsor Avenue, Mineola
- 02/09/17 – 2010 Chevy removed from Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park
- 01/25/17 – 2002 GMC removed from Sagamore Avenue, Mineola
- 01/21/17 – 2011 BMW removed from Windsor Ave, Mineola
- 12/29/16 – 2011 GMC removed from County Courthouse Road, Garden City
- 11/18/16 – 2003 Toyota removed from Old Stewart Avenue, Garden City Park
- 09/21/16 – 2009 Dodge removed from Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park
- 09/12/16/ - 2008 Honda removed from Jericho Turnpike, Garden City Park
Defendant Collin Bunbury is charged with 9 counts of Grand Larceny (Motor Vehicle) 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday, September 13, 2018.
