E. COLI OUTBREAK: 7 people sick and 6 hospitalized. If you received HelloFresh meal kits with ground beef in July and froze any of the ground beef, check your freezer to see if you have this lot of ground beef. Do not eat it.

The CDC has issued a food safety alert for contaminated ground beef in select HelloFresh meal kits that were shipped to customers in July.

These affected lots may be contaminated with E. Coli.

These meal kits were shipped from July 2nd to July 21st, 2022. The ground beef was packed in 10-oz. plastic vacuum-packed packages inside a variety of HelloFresh meal kits, the CDC says. The beef was labeled "GROUND BEEF 85% LEAN 15% FAT."

The affected lots have "EST.46841" inside the USDA inspection mark, and "EST#46841 L1 22155" or "EST#46841 L5 22 155" displayed on the side of the packaging. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says that a recall isn't being issued because the affected product is no longer being sold. However, some customers could have frozen the beef, which has prompted this food safety alert.
