The Safe Center Hosts Annual Summerfest 2022 Fundraiser

The Safe Center, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, is the leading victim service organization in Nassau County, hosted its annual Summerfest BBQ fundraiser recently, raising $39,000 to support its work on behalf of victims of domestic violence, child sexual and severe physical abuse, rape and sexual assault, human trafficking, and elder abuse. 
 
More than 125 people attended the event at Leonardo’s Palazzo in Great Neck, NY, which included food, drink and raffle prizes. 
 
“While our work is serious, we also take the opportunity to gather and celebrate what our collaboration and hard work has accomplished” said Cynthia Scott, Executive Director of The Safe Center.
 
In the past year, The Safe Center has responded to 6,195 hotline calls and assisted 3,819 survivors impacted by Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Human Trafficking and Child Sexual & Severe Physical Abuse. More than 27-thousand people attended educational trainings raising awareness on how to recognize, respond to and prevent future incidents of abuse. 
 
“The Nassau County Police Department – Special Victims Squad has been very fortunate to be partnered with The Safe Center and a member of the Nassau County Multidisciplinary Team,” said Det/Sgt Carlo Maltempi of the Nassau PD. “Our collaborative efforts with each team member have enhanced our work in every year that passes. I have personally been part of the team for the past 13 years and it truly gets better and better. The Safe Center facilitates a swift, caring, effective and supportive coordinated response to the victims in the community we serve. We are all proud to be part of such a passionate and dedicated team.”
