2 Adults, 1 Minor Busted by Cops After Attempting to Loot Oceanside Costco

The Fourth Squad reports three Arrests for an Attempted Robbery that occurred at 1:55pm on Thursday, September 14, 2023 in Oceanside.
 
According to Detectives, two male employees of Costco located at 3705 Hampton Road observed four male black suspects pushing shopping carts full of merchandise through the emergency fire exit out of the store. Defendant Darnell Slaughter, 18, of 707 Madison Street Brooklyn ran with the shopping cart toward the male victim, 37, and struck him in the left elbow causing significant pain and swelling. 
 
At that time, all four suspects abandoned the carts full of merchandise and began running toward a U-Haul van that Defendant Shamari Lawrence, 21, of 11950 221st Street Jamaica was operating; he fled the scene. The four running suspects fled on foot; two north on Hampton Road, two east toward the Long Island Railroad tracks. 
 
Subsequent to the investigation, Defendant Shamari Lawrence was located at Texas Avenue and Austin Boulevard and at 2:48pm was placed under arrest. He was in possession of multiple credit cards not in his name. A Juvenile Defendant, 17, of Brooklyn was located near Hampton Road and Brown Court and at 3:13pm was placed under arrest. Defendant Darnell Slaughter was located in front of 3553 Lawson Boulevard and at 4:07pm was placed under arrest. No further injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
 
All three Defendants are each charged with two counts of Robbery 2nd Degree and one count of Assault 2nd Degree. Additionally, Defendant Lawrence is charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree and multiple VTL violations; the Juvenile Defendant is charged with False Personation; Defendant Slaughter is charged with a second count of Assault 2nd Degree. Arraignment is Friday, September 15, 2023 in First District Court, Hempstead.
