Special Weather Statement issued January 6 at 10:50PM EST by NWS Upton NY Overnight into Tuesday morning, any wet spots are expected to freeze and become icy, thereby creating slippery conditions for untreated surfaces. In addition, some less traveled secondary roads may still have some residual snow. The winds increasing and becoming gusty may partially dry out residual moisture, but some icy spots will likely remain especially in locations with less wind. If encountering these conditions, proceed with extra caution. Drive extra slowly and allow for more space between vehicles.

The Homicide Squad is investigating a Fatal Auto Accident that occurred on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 3:00 pm in Garden City.
 
According to Detectives, a male driver, 26, operating a white 2009 Honda CBR 600 motorcycle, was involved in a collision with a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Stewart Avenue at the intersection of Tanners Pond Road where he struck the rear of the Hyundai turning south on Edgemere Road.
 
The driver of the motorcycle was ejected and suffered severe trauma. He was pronounced at scene at 3:02 pm. The operator of the Hyundai Sonata was not injured and remained at scene. 
 
The investigation is ongoing.
