Just a reminder that this Saturday the 21st from 6:00-8:00pmwe will be celebrating the opening of our Fall Exhibition: Vintage Posters of the Grateful Dead. Many works have never before been shown in the Gallery. Have a glass of wine or soft drink and some snacks while checking out the new pieces and then enjoy dinner at one of Oyster Bay’s excellent restaurants!
Here’s our guide to them: www.bahrgallery.com/about/visiting-oyster-bay. Be sure to make a reservation!
So we can get a count, please RSVP to Ted@BahrGallery.com.
Highlights of the Exhibition include the famous 1966 “Skeleton & Roses” poster by Mouse and Kelley that became a core part of the Dead’s iconography, as well as a first edition “Aoxomoxoa,” by Rick Griffin, a very rare piece from Stockton CA 1967, the iconic 1968 poster known as the “Santana Lion,” the Dead playing with Miles Davis in 1970, and a poster for MIT 1970, which came just two days after the shootings at Kent State. More than 40 works in total comprise the Exhibition and 15 works have never been shown at the Bahr.
As usually, the Exhibition is in our main room but the other rooms are full of other (non-Dead) amazing artwork featuring other bands from the late 1960s where several new pieces will also make their debut.
The Bahr Gallery is open Friday and Saturday from 1:30-5:30pm and by appointment and if you see me in the Gallery on other days just knock and come on in!
We hope to see you Saturday the 21st!
