Third Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Hempstead woman for Endangering the Welfare of a Child that occurred in Hempstead.
 
According to Detectives, the defendant Rosa Blanca Landaverde Ayala, 45, was babysitting two male children, ages one and two. At approximately 10:00 a.m. the defendant left her residence to pick up additional children, leaving the children at her home unattended and unsupervised. 
 
Upon the defendants return she discovered one of the children had apparent bite marks, scrapes, bruises and swelling to his face. The defendant failed to notify the family of the victim. When the victim’s mother saw the child later that night she brought him to the hospital. The mother called the police, an investigation was begun and led to the arrest of the defendant.
 
The defendant Rosa Blanca Landaverde Ayala has been charged with two (2) counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She was arraigned at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
