Anthony Laccone, 57, of Copiague was convicted on September in a bench trial in May, 2019 and has just been sentenced to imprisonment for 60 days and probation for 3 years for animal cruelty charges for failure to provide proper sustenance for his dogs. The dogs were kept confined in unhealthy, unsanitary, deplorable conditions.
On March 30, 2017 Laccone was charged by Suffolk County SPCA Detectives. Laccone must also register on the County Animal Abuse Registry.
The SPCA would like to thank the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, the Town of Babylon Animal Shelter and the fine work of the Suffolk County SPCA detectives who brought this case to conviction.
The SPCA stated that they hope that this conviction sends out a clear message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated and Suffolk County.
