The Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council will be setting shop at upcoming health fairs, providing free assistance in enrolling in state health insurance plans.

The Hauppauge-based council said it will be sending health insurance enrollment specialists to offer on-site enrollment assistance at health fairs sponsored by State Senators John Brooks and Todd Kaminsky during October.

Adults and children who are blind or disabled and anyone aged 65 plus, for instance, may be eligible for Medicaid and/or Medicare. “Enrollers will screen each person for eligibility for the appropriate public insurance program,” according to the group.
