SCPD: Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Shirley Motor Vehicle Crash

Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Shirley this morning.
 
Alex Canas was driving a 2013 Dodge Dart southbound on William Floyd Parkway, just south of Montauk Highway, when the vehicle struck a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway from west to east at approximately 1:40 a.m.
 
The victim, Luis Segura-Soto, 62, of Shirley, was transported by Shirley Rescue Ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Canas, 34, of Shirley, was not injured.
 
The Dodge was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
