HIA-LI, the steward of the Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge (LI-IPH), is excited to announce the introduction of BrentwoodGo, an innovative on-demand electric vehicle shuttle service. It will provide affordable, eco-friendly transportation for employees and visitors within and around the LI-IPH, marking a significant step toward sustainable mobility solutions in one of the nation's largest industrial parks.
The launch of BrentwoodGo is a direct result of a key recommendation from the 2019 opportunity analysis, “Growth Strategies and Regional Competitiveness,” developed by James Lima Planning + Development and the Regional Plan Association. This analysis highlighted the need for improved internal and external connections to the LI-IPH by offering viable transportation options to the park’s workforce.
Operated by Circuit, an electric, micro-transit solution founded in 2011, BrentwoodGo aims to curb congestion, reduce emissions, and improve transportation accessibility. The service, which will initially be free during a limited introductory period and later available at a fixed fare of just $2.50, will operate six electric sedans and one wheelchair-accessible van. Circuit’s vehicles will charge and park at a dedicated base station hosted by Custom Computer Specialists (CCS) in the LI-IPH. As the program expands, additional electric vans will be added to the fleet.
As a winner in the Electric Mobility Challenge category of the $85 million New York Clean Transportation Prizes, administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, Circuit received a $7 million award funded by the Long Island Power Authority to launch its Rockaway Rides and BrentwoodGo programs.
How Circuit Works
To use the service, riders simply need to download the Ride Circuit app from the Google Play or App Store, request a ride by selecting their pick-up location, and enjoy a quick, friendly, and environmentally clean ride. Operating Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 6:00pm, BrentwoodGo will serve employees and visitors running errands, attending appointments, and more within the LI-IPH and the surrounding area.
“This launch is a milestone for the Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge, where we are always looking to create value for our members,” said Terri Alessi-Miceli, President and CEO of HIA-LI. “BrentwoodGo will provide an affordable and sustainable way for employees and visitors to navigate the park, reduce traffic, and help our community go green. It’s a win-win for everyone involved.”
A Vision for the Future of Transportation on Long Island
The introduction of BrentwoodGo to the LI-IPH is more than just a new service; it’s a model for sustainable transportation that could be replicated across Long Island and beyond.
“The implementation of BrentwoodGo is an exciting and innovative solution to improve transportation in our park,” stated Carol A. Allen, Chair of HIA-LI. “This program demonstrates HIA-LI’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, positioning the LI-IPH as a forward-thinking business hub.”
“This new transportation service is an excellent example of how public-private partnerships can lead to innovative solutions that benefit the broader business community,” noted Joe Campolo, HIA-LI Board Member, Chair of HIA-LI’s Long Island Economic Development Task Force, Managing Partner of Campolo Middleton & McCormick, LLP, and Founder & CEO of Strata Alliance. “It will enhance the attractiveness of the LI-IPH for new and existing businesses, creating opportunities for growth and development.”
Alex Esposito, CEO of Circuit, emphasized the company's commitment to making mobility easier and more sustainable: “At Circuit, we’re passionate about providing convenient, affordable, and eco-friendly transportation options. Launching our service at the LI-IPH aligns perfectly with our mission to reduce emissions, curb congestion, and connect people to their destinations in a smarter way.”
“This is a game-changer for Brentwood families and workers,” commented Suffolk County Legislator Samuel Gonzalez. “By offering this service, we’re giving hardworking members of our community, many of whom don’t have reliable transportation, a more accessible, affordable, and eco-friendly way to get to and from their jobs at the Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge.”
“Circuit’s micro-transit service is a perfect example of how we can make real progress toward reducing our carbon footprint while supporting the community’s transportation needs,” said Michael Voltz, Director of Energy Efficiency and Renewables at PSEG Long Island and an HIA-LI Board Member. “By replacing traditional vehicles with electric ones, we’re cutting emissions and helping to create a cleaner, more sustainable future for Long Island. I’m proud to see initiatives like this, which align with our energy efficiency goals and demonstrate how innovation can lead to meaningful environmental benefits.”
Greg Galdi, Founder and Chairman of CCS and former HIA-LI Board Member, who has generously provided parking and charging facilities for the shuttle fleet, added: “We’re thrilled to host Circuit’s fleet at our facility. Supporting this green initiative allows us to contribute to the environmental well-being of our community while making transportation easier for our fellow businesses and their employees.”
A Broader Roll-Out in the Future
This is just the first phase in what HIA-LI and Circuit hope will be a wider roll-out across Long Island. With over 1,350 companies and 55,000 employees within the LI-IPH alone, BrentwoodGo offers an affordable transportation alternative that reduces the need for private vehicles, helping to alleviate traffic congestion and minimize the environmental impact.
The service is expected to particularly benefit those commuting from the Long Island Railroad Station in Brentwood, where the $2.50 fare offers a significant saving over the cost of a taxi. BrentwoodGo also fills a crucial transportation gap for many who live in Brentwood and work at manufacturing companies in the park who may not have reliable transportation options.
