Man Points Gun at Teenager then Flees and Injures Police During Arrest

The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Lakeview man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 4:50 pm in Lakeview.
 
According to Detectives, Officers responded to a 911 call for a disturbance at a residential home. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 40 female, who was involved in a verbal argument with an unknown male, who was there, with several other males, to fight the victims 17-year-old, female, foster child. The victim stated the male suspect pointed a black colored firearm at the victim before fleeing scene, putting her in fear for her safety.
 
Subsequent to the investigation, Officers located the subject in Harold Walker Memorial Park. He ignored their verbal commands and a foot pursuit ensued. A short time later, the subject was located and officers attempted to place him into custody. 
 
The defendant acted violently and combative while resisting arrest and caused an injury to an Officer. Both the Officer and the Defendant were transported to a nearby hospitals for assessment and treatment. Recovered at scene was a black colored loaded Ruger LCP.380 caliber defaced handgun.
 
Defendant Xavier Kewley, 19, of 14 Parkside Drive is charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Loaded Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Defaced Weapon 3 rd Degree, Assault on a Police Officer, Menacing 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. The defendant will be arraigned on
Sunday, September 25, 2022 at First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
