As part of its ongoing efforts to foster sustainable homeownership opportunities and community involvement throughout Long Island, Long Island Board of REALTORS (LIBOR) recently joined Habitat for Humanity of Long Island (HFHLI) to build a home for a deserving family in Wyandanch, NY.

On September 21, 2023, dedicated members of LIBOR volunteered their time and skill to work alongside HFHLI site supervisors on the initial framing of the Wyandanch home and grounds clean-up in preparation for the wall-raising scheduled for the following day. This collaboration aims to continue LIBOR's commitment to helping Long Islanders achieve the American dream of homeownership and making a lasting impact in our communities.

LIBOR proudly supports HFHLI's mission to create sustainable and transformative development throughout Long Island. HFHLI plays a vital role in assisting families to establish long-term financial security. By providing affordable and stable homes, Habitat empowers families to allocate more resources towards crucial needs such as food, medicine, child care, education, and other essentials.

"LIBOR is proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Long Island,” said Gina Marie Bettenhauser, LIBOR President. “As an Association, we firmly believe in the importance of providing safe and affordable housing for all. This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of Long Islanders. Together, we can build not just houses but stronger, more vibrant communities.”

In addition to providing volunteer labor, LIBOR contributed $2,500 to help construct the home. Since 2004, LIBOR has sponsored the building of 18 Habitat for Humanity homes across Long Island.
