Riverhead, NY - September 27, 2017 - A man convicted of the murder of a young woman found slain in the Froehlich Farm Nature Preserve in Huntington four years ago was sentenced today to prison for 25 years to life, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.

Fernando Romualdo, 29, was serving a three year sentence in prison for the rape of a female teenager when investigators learned his DNA matched the evidence collected from Sarah Strobel’s body. The remains of Ms. Strobel, 23, were found by a hiker on October 3, 2013.

Romualdo was convicted of murder in the second degree after a two-week trial in June, DA Spota said.
