Pedestrian Killed in Motor Vehicle Crash

Bay Shore, New York - September 30, 2013 - Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in North Bay Shore this morning.

A 59-year-old man was crossing Fifth Avenue when he was struck by a northbound 1997 Honda Civic, driven by Marlon Ordonez. Ordonez, 21, of 8 Ninth Ave., Brentwood, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with minor injuries. The pedestrian, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
