AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Babylon, SCPD Investigating

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating an incident that left a motorcyclist in serious condition today in Babylon.

Babylon, NY - October 1, 2015 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating an incident that left a motorcyclist in serious condition today in Babylon.

At approximately 12:10 pm, Michael Funchus was operating his 2014 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle eastbound on Simon Street, when he lost control of the motorcycle causing it to leave the roadway and strike a tree in front of 31 Simon St.

Funchus, 42, of North Babylon, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where is being treated for serious head and neck injuries and currently listed in serious condition.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident and have not been interviewed to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
