Motorcyclist Killed in Middle Island Crash While Attempting to Pass Truck, Officials Say
Middle Island, NY - October 2, 2018 - Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a Middle Island crash that killed a motorcyclist on Monday, October 1.
Brian Ruggero was riding a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle at a high rate of speed southbound on County Road 21 when, in an attempt to go around a tractor trailer that had pulled into the roadway, drove along the shoulder, struck a landscaping rock at the end of the road and a utility pole in front of 64 County Road 21 at approximately 3:25 a.m.
Ruggero 23, of Shirley was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead.
The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
