Long Island Children’s Museum invites families to join in a fang-tastic night filled with eerie surprises, gallery trick or treating and a monster-led dance party at its Ghostly Gala on Saturday, October 21 from 6-9 p.m. LICM’s Halloween celebration is made possible with the support of Jovia Financial Credit Union.
Arrive at the Museum in your most creative and dazzling costume (adults too) and celebrate Halloween in a fun, safe and spooky (but not scary) way! Don’t worry about a goody bag for your gallery trick or treating, we’ll help you decorate your own pumpkin pal treat bag.
Stop at activity stations throughout the Museum and make themed craft projects like a “Glimmering Ghost,” “Funny Frankenstein” necklace and a “Witchy Wardrobe” puppet. Get ready for some mysterious encounters as you enter the unknown in the “Outta This World Spooky Space,” where guests can explore an imaginary planet. Show off your spooktacular dance moves on our Monster Mash Dance Floor and then pump up your energy by making a gooey snack to sink your teeth into.
The LICM Theater welcomes back Uncle Vlad’s Pumpkin Patch for a spell-binding addition to our Halloween 2023 celebration. This year Uncle Vlad has brought with him more stories and songs to share with his nephew Chad, and his fellow friendly creatures of the night. The theater add-on features puppet artists Kyle Mahoney, Sebastiano Ricci, Carrie Heffernan and Austin M. Costello.
This popular event sells out, so advanced ticketing is recommended. Tickets are available at the LICM Box office or online (www.licm.org/ghostly23) . Tickets are priced at $15 ($13 for museum members). Theater add-on tickets are $4 with Ghostly Gala admission; $3 LICM members with Ghostly Gala admission.)
About the Long Island Children’s Museum (www.licm.org)
The mission of Long Island Children’s Museum (LICM) is to connect all our communities’ children, and those who care for them, to a life of wonder, imagination and exploration. At LICM, children discover their passions and their relationship to the world we share. The 40,000-square-foot museum serves over 300,000 children and adults annually. The private, not-for-profit institution chartered by the New York State Board of Regents, offers museum-based educational programs and cultural experiences, as well as an extensive community outreach program offered in schools, libraries and youth centers across Long Island. Additionally, the Children’s Museum operates the historic Nunley’s Carousel in association with Nassau County, one of three intact Stein & Goldstein carousels still in existence.
LICM is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), recognized as the field's gold standard for museum excellence and signifies a museum’s quality, credibility and deep commitment to mission and community. Less than 3% of the nation’s more than 30,000 museums have earned this recognition. LICM is currently the only children’s museum in NY State, and just one of 16 nationwide, to achieve accreditation. The Museum is the recipient of the 2012 National Medal for Museum & Library Service, the highest honor conferred on museums for extraordinary civic, educational, economic, environmental, and social contributions.
