Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine, District Attorney Ray Tierney Led Demonstration of TruNarc™ Devices
Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine, District Attorney Ray Tierney, members of the Suffolk County Legislature, public officials and members of the Suffolk County Police Foundation (SCPF) gathered to demonstrate TruNarc™, a handheld narcotics analyzer, to media and community members on October 2.
“This technology protects our law enforcement officers by preventing exposure to dangerous chemical agents,” said Romaine. “We thank the Suffolk County Police Foundation for the work they do to support our law enforcement officers.”
The SCPF purchased five devices for the County, bringing the total number available to the Suffolk County Police Department up to seven (enough for each precinct to have access to the technology). Chairman of the SCPF Louis Tutone and board member Lisa Tuozzolo spoke on the work the Foundation does to support law enforcement.
TruNarc™ utilizes spectral analysis to detect 530 chemical agents, including fentanyl, utilizing no-contact technology.
