Weather Alert

Special Weather Statement issued January 6 at 10:50PM EST by NWS Upton NY Overnight into Tuesday morning, any wet spots are expected to freeze and become icy, thereby creating slippery conditions for untreated surfaces. In addition, some less traveled secondary roads may still have some residual snow. The winds increasing and becoming gusty may partially dry out residual moisture, but some icy spots will likely remain especially in locations with less wind. If encountering these conditions, proceed with extra caution. Drive extra slowly and allow for more space between vehicles.

Sound Beach, NY - October 5, 2015 - On Saturday, September 26th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker joined the Sound Beach Civic Association at the 4th annual Pet Adopt-a-Thon. The event was held near the Hartlin Inn in Sound Beach and offered a place where residents could adopt loving pets and learn information about responsible pet care.

“I am so happy to see the community come together to support local animal shelters and rescue centers,” said Legislator Anker. “This is a great way to raise awareness about the many animals in need of homes at our local shelters.”

Sound Beach Civic Association hosted its first annual Pet Adopt-A-Thon in 2012, where over 200 locals joined.
