Hauppauge, NY - October 5, 2016 - Emmy Award winning WNBC-TV lead sport anchor, Bruce Beck, will serve as master of ceremonies for an Evening of Champions to support Special Olympics New York – Long Island Region (SONY-LI) – on Tuesday, November 15 at SimPlay, 180 Commerce Drive, Hauppauge, NY.
This fund raising effort helps to sponsor the more than 6,500 Special Olympics athletes that compete and train each year. The 2016 Goal is to sponsor 250 Long Island athletes. The cost incurred by SONY-LI to prepare and send the athletes to local competitions is $400 per individual.
Special Olympics athletes or their families are NEVER charged to participate in Special Olympics programs.
Tickets for the event on November 15 th are $100 and include:
- Open Bar, Cocktail Hour and Simulated Play activities
- Sponsor an Athlete Fundraiser and Auction
Corporate sponsorship packages from $1,000 up to $10,000 are also available for this worthwhile cause.
The host site of the event is SimPlay, which is Long Island’s only multi-sport simulator facility. Each simulator can be programmed to play any of the major sports, including 87 golf courses from around the world.
Special Olympics Mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
