Breeze Airways, a relatively new low-cost airline that originally launched its inaugural flight from Tampa International Airport to Charleston International Airport on May 27, 2021, has announced that it will be adding new flights starting in December from Islip's MacArthur Airport to Veron Beach, Florida.
The new service will launch on Thursday, December 21 and will operate on a seasonal basis, offering two weekly flights - on Thursdays and Sundays - throughout April 28, 2024, with fares starting from just $69 one way, according to Breeze officials.
Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter pointed out that this is the first time that an airline will be offering a direct flight to Vero Beach from Long Island.
“Long Islanders love visiting Florida year-round and especially in the winter. These new non-stop flights to Vero Beach will tempt travelers who want to take an easy, hassle-free vacation. The Treasure Coast is a hidden gem perfect for soaking up sunshine, playing golf, enjoying nature, and just relaxing,” she said. “We also welcome visitors from Vero Beach to Long Island for some peaceful ‘sweater weather,’ holiday shopping in charmingly decorated downtowns, and delightful winter dining."
David Neeleman, Breeze Airways’ Founder and CEO - who previously co-founded Morris Air, WestJet, JetBlue, and Azul Linhas Aereas - said that he was proud to be offering this new service to Long Islanders.
“Vero Beach has been a huge success since we started service in February,” he said. “And our Guests have been very vocal about adding the service from Islip too. ISP leadership’s own data also demonstrated the strength of this market. Now Long Islanders can grab a seriously comfortable, seriously affordable, and seriously nice winter Florida getaway to one of Florida’s best-kept secrets.”
All routes to and from Vero Beach will be flown on Breeze’s brand-new Airbus A220-300 aircraft.
