Deer Park, NY - October 6, 2016 - LARPing or “Live Action Role Playing” is commonly done with groups who bridge the world of fantasy and reality, fans of Dungeons and Dragons and other fantasy role playing games have been doing this for years.
One Long Island attraction and New York based art collective want to take LARPing to a new level in an experimental survival horror experience called ULTRA VIOLENCE.
Taking inspiration from cult films The Warriors, Battle Royal, A Clockwork Orange, The Purge and more, Fringe Immersive and NYZ Apocalypse have created and event that is the first ever in the country and it allows guests to “fight back” against actors.
Full contact or extreme haunted houses are nothing new, more and more pop up every year as demand grows for a more intense experience, but ULTRA VIOLENCE is setting the bar higher with immersive settings and interactive missions you must complete to progress through the show.
“You can go and walk through a haunted house and get scared or you can come be part of the experience at our shows, the choice is yours” said Will Puntarich, Founder of Fringe Immersive and Marketing Director at NYZ Apocalypse.
In ULTRA VIOLENCE you and a teammate play convicts in a prison and your mission is to save the warden. The only issue is costumed gangs have taken over and are holding the warden prisoner. You are only armed with foam weapons and the gangs are hunting you. If you find and save the warden, you get your freedom – that is if the gangs don’t get to you first.
“This is about fun more so than anything, but we’re taking safety of our actors and guests into account now more than ever. This isn’t a beat down and guests must follow rules or suffer the consequences” said David Graham, Co-Founder of Fringe Immersive.
ULTRA VIOLENCE is a one night event at NYZ Apocalypse, it is 18 and up and groups must sign a waiver before entry. If you’re not into extreme events like this, NYZ Apocalypse and Fringe Immersive also have contact optional events every Friday and Sunday all with different themes and are all ages.
