Update: Police Looking for Box Truck That Critically Injured Cyclist

Update - 10/10/14 - Vehicular Crime Unit detectives believe that the driver, who left the scene of a crash that critically injured a bicyclist on Veterans Memorial Highway, Holbrook, on October 6, was driving a 2012 or newer Hino Series 200 or Series 300 box truck. The passenger side view mirror glass insert was recovered at the scene. The mounting bracket and mirror housing may still be on the truck.
 
Bradley Samuel is still in critical condition at Stony Brook University Hospital.
 
Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed or has information on this crash to contact the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
 
Holbrook, NY - October 7, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that critically injured a bicyclist in Holbrook last evening.
 
Bradley J. Samuel, 43, was riding his bicycle eastbound on Veterans Memorial Highway, west of Coates Avenue, when he was struck by a vehicle also traveling eastbound at 8:55 pm. The driver fled the scene.
 
The vehicle is believed to be a large commercial truck with oversized mirrors, with damage to the passenger side view mirror.
 
Samuel, of East Patchogue, was transported via Holbrook Ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is being treated for head injuries and is in critical condition.
