AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT SUNDAY The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: Nassau, Suffolk, from 11 AM to 11 PM EDT Sunday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Teen Arrested for Setting Fire Inside a Bus

A male juvenile arrested for an arson that occurred on Saturday, August 13, 2022 in Seaford.

The Arson Bomb Squad reports the arrest of a male juvenile for an arson that occurred on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 5:38 p.m. in Seaford.
 
According to Detectives, a fire was set inside of a Nassau County NICE bus, located at 3340 Merrick Road, causing it to catch fire. The fire caused ten other NICE buses to also catch fire, creating an excessive amount of property damage. On Thursday, October 6, 2022 Police  apprehended a male juvenile, 17, that was responsible for setting the fire.
 
The juvenile defendant is charged with one count of Arson in the 3rd Degree, and ten counts of Arson in the 4 th Degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
