Aiming to fortify the long-term competitiveness of the Long Island economy, HIA-LI, one of the recognized voices for business on Long Island, joined with the Suffolk IDA and the Workforce Development Institute to commission a 54-page strategic analysis of the area’s long-term workforce needs – and the best ways to attract and retain a properly skilled workforce going forward.
The action strategies will help the private sector, government, and educational institutions sharpen their focus on training-related investments that will go furthest in generating sustained returns for businesses.
The report was written by James Lima Planning + Development, which surveyed 34 Long Island employers. 88 percent of respondents had 50 or more employees. Three-fifths of the respondents were located in the Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge.
Copies of the report, which is embargoed until October 13, are available by contacting Mark Grossman Public Relations.
