AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Man Killed in Eastport Motor Vehicle Crash, According to Suffolk Police

Gerald Bennett of East Moriches, 84, was driving in Eastport when he collided with another vehicle, cops say.

SCPD are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in Eastport on Thursday, October 12.

Eastport, NY - October 13, 2017 - Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in Eastport, New York, on Thursday, October 12, 2017.
 
Gerald Bennett was driving a 2009 Honda CRV, exiting the parking lot at 25 Eastport Manor Road, when his vehicle collided with a 2008 Ford F350 that was traveling northbound on Eastport Manor Road at approximately 5:10 p.m.
 
Bennett, 84, of East Moriches, was transported by East Moriches Community Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford, Chase Evarhart, 19, of Westhampton, remained at the scene and was uninjured.
 
Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check.
 
The investigating is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
