AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Huntington Man Charged with Starving His Two Pit Bulls, According to SPCA

Suffolk SPCA charged William Woods Jr. of Huntington, 55, with animal cruelty.

Huntington, NY - October 15, 2018 - Detectives with the Suffolk County SPCA charged a Huntington man with animal cruelty on Friday  October 12th, 2018.
 
William Woods Jr., 55,  was charged with two counts of animal neglect (353 AM) for failure to provide proper sustenance to his two Pit Bull canines. A 2 year old female Pit Bull and a 2 year old male Pit Bull were found emaciated. The dogs were removed to Huntington Town Shelter. Four 3 month old Pit Bulls were also found in his possession and they were also removed from the property. 
 
Woods is scheduled to appear in 1st District Court on  12/12/2018.
 
Chief Gross said that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Suffolk County. If you witness any incident of animal cruelty or neglect in Suffolk County please contact the Suffolk County SPCA at (631) 382-7722. All calls will be kept confidential.
