AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Nassau County Police Dept: Mastic Woman Arrested for Massapequa Robbery

The Seventh Squad reports the arrest of a Mastic woman for a Robbery that occurred on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 4:20 p.m. in Massapequa.

Massapequa, NY - October 16th, 2013 - The Seventh Squad reports the arrest of a Mastic woman for a Robbery that occurred on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 4:20 p.m. in Massapequa.

According to detectives, the defendant Coshonda Vanderhall, 31 of 14 Stuyvesant Avenue removed assorted clothing valued in excess of $270.00 from the J.C. Penney located at 600 Sunrise Mall. When Vanderhall exited the store without stopping to pay,  a female loss prevention officer approached her in an attempt to retrieve the stolen items.

Vanderhall began to punched the victim in the face and throw her to the ground. Nassau County Police Officers from the Seventh Precinct arrived at the scene and placed the defendant under arrest. The female victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. During the investigation it was discovered that Vanderhall had left her two children, a 10 year old female and 15 month old male, in her vehicle parked in the mall parking lot. The children were released to a family member.

Vanderhall is charged with Robbery 3rd degree and (2) two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She will be arraigned on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at First District Court in Hempstead.
