Suffolk County Police arrested a Brooklyn man for seriously injuring a pedestrian during a car takeover in Patchogue earlier this month.
 
A 19-year-old Holbrook woman was watching a car takeover at the Gateway Plaza, located on Sunrise Highway, when she was struck by a white Infiniti sedan on October 6 at approximately 1:15 a.m. She was transported by private vehicle to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries.
 
Following an investigation, Fifth Squad detectives arrested Matthew Mitchell in Kew Gardens on October 15 at 11:40 a.m. Mitchell, 20, of 412 Montauk Ave., Brooklyn, was charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Injury, Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Reckless Driving and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 2nd Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip today.
