AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Fourth Squad detectives are investigating an Attempted Robbery that occurred on October 16, 2014 at 7:52 pm in Inwood.

Inwood, NY - October 17th, 2014 - Fourth Squad detectives are investigating an Attempted Robbery that occurred on October 16, 2014 at 7:52 pm in Inwood.

According to detectives, after returning to her Mervin Street residence and pulling into her driveway, the 37 year old female victim exited her car and was immediately confronted by a male black subject who was armed with a handgun. After demanding her pocketbook, the victim, who struggled to retain it, pushed the subject who then began running away from the scene without the bag. After she began shouting for help, the subject stopped, turned around and fired one shot towards the victim who was not struck. The uninjured victim, who then observed the subject running southbound towards Alvin Place, could only further describe him with wearing dark colored clothing.
