AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO MIDNIGHT EDT THURSDAY NIGHT The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam. from midnight tonight to midnight EDT Thursday night. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Fine Particulates. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. NCPD report the arrest of Francisco Mateo of Roosevelt, 22, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

Roosevelt, NY - October 19, 2018 - First Squad detectives report the arrest of a Roosevelt man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 2:15 am in Roosevelt.

According to detectives, patrol officers responded to a disturbance involving a firearm at a residence on Elm Street.  Upon arrival, officers were informed by the female victim that she was having an argument with Francisco Mateo, 22. The argument escalated and Mateo punched the victim twice in the head. The victim proceeded to call 911 when Mateo attempted to remove the phone from her hand. While remaining on the phone with 911, Mateo displayed a handgun and threatened the victim. An infant was present during the altercation. 
 
During the investigation, Mateo was uncooperative with the officers and became violent.  The defendant was subdued and placed under arrest.
 
Defendant Mateo is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Menacing 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Assault 3rd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree.  He will be arraigned Friday, October 19, 2018 at First District Court, Hempstead
